it's hard to believe at the beginning of this decade i was 19
i lived in 10 apartments (2 of which where inhabited only by me) in 4 different cities
had 3 serious boyfriends (the last of which i'm still happily with)
opened 2 online shops (1 much more successful than the other)
signed a major deal with a british design firm
had 4 promotions and 2 layoffs
purchased 1 car
spent a lot of nights with amazing friends.
spent a lot of nights painfully alone.
in this decade i really discovered music and art as escapism
created several new artworks in various formats
purchased 1 url
adopted 1 fabulous dog
gained many pounds
and have 0 regrets
it's hard to define the decade you're in
in the new decade i'll spend most of it in my 30s
and i'm looking forward to it
without expectations.

pretty mr. hare
am currently drooling for these slip ons. it's a quite feminine take on a modern mens classic. minimal, beautiful, perfect. will have to look into mr. hare as "he" seems to have a lot of amazing styles.

in dreams.
last night i dreamt that sean and i were moving into a new apartment and it wasn't ready yet. there were huge holes in the walls where animals were living etc. the landlord was a sweaty old lady who refereed to her tenants not by name, but how much they each paid in rent. i'm having trouble shaking it, so that's why i wrote it down here.

TOM FORD
Today I saw a pair of shoes by Tom Ford today at NM retailing for just over 11k. Very similar to the ones pictured below...in the mud that is. I opted to see the matinee of his film for $8.25 instead, which was pretty fantastic.

unemployment = art.
i've been unemployed for going on 7 months now, which is more becoming what i'd like to think of as a haphazard sabbatical. what a better way to pass the time than experiment with the materials you have around you. for the past couple of days i've been making artwork with my scanner, i love the underwater like quality to some of them. i've reduced them greatly in size for upload. if and when i have them printed they will be larger than life.

former ghosts.
this music is nothing if not totally honest and completely cerebral. it's so intimate and giving i can't help but be drawn in and follow the sound. obviously an amazing collaboration that hopefully produces more records. XO JS

autobody
I've been interning at this gallery for a couple of months now and it's been amazing. If you're in the bay area you must check it out. Very contemporary in feel and quaint all at the same time. It's not what you'd expect on Alameda island, and this is what we pride ourselves in! XO JS

not to get all political but...
Can someone please explain to me why a President raging in 2 wars on the backs of American tax payers (as the country goes further and further into debt) deserves the Nobel Peace Prize? It is perplexing to me.
all of my work is turning into digital polaroids.
i like them this way because it throws an element of chance into the work, i don't have as much control as to how the images are cropped or the exact colors. 9 times out of 10 they turn out as great works on their own. not sure if this format will stick or not, it makes me nostalgic for polaroid film.

accidental work
sometimes in art you get happy accidents. the great thing about embroidering work is there's always a reverse side that you can't really plan. sometimes this work is better than what you've intended to happen on the other side. sometimes artwork just creates itself. xo js.
Tavi's a pretty good sales girl.
I wasn't really sold on Rodarte for Target...these collaborations get tricky. Their work is so couture focused, and when designers dumb down their work for the masses I question how much of them is really in it, or how exclusive it really is to things that already exist in the market. Gosh, but after seeing this video I'm sold. Nice work!!!

indexhibit
i was intrigued, by this web design template i first saw from from Stand Up Comedy in Portland.
i'm interested to learn where the project goes and how i can use it to present my works.
any design feedback is welcome. i know very little about CSS and web design in general.
thoughts/suggestions? XO JS

changing faces.
I'm interested in giving a new life to discarded photographs. By reworking them the format is changed in both material and content. Here is one example.
